Detailed Itinerary

DAY 1 Bucharest – Peles Castle – Bran Castle (Dracula’s Castle) – Old Town Brasov

Embark on a private journey from Bucharest into the heart of Transylvania, traveling through the scenic Prahova Valley — often called the “Carpathian Garden.” In Sinaia, visit the magnificent Peleș Castle, the former royal residence set against the forested slopes of the Carpathians. Continue to Bran Castle, famously linked to the Dracula legend, where history and myth intertwine, and enjoy a brief stop at Cantacuzino Castle, known internationally as “Nevermore Academy” from Netflix’s Wednesday. The day concludes in medieval Brașov, where cobbled streets, Council Square, the Black Church and centuries-old fortifications create one of Transylvania’s most charming and refined urban atmospheres. Overnight in Brașov.

Day 2 Brasov – Viscri – Sighisoara – Sibiu

Leave Brașov behind and travel to Sighișoara, a beautifully preserved UNESCO-listed medieval citadel and the birthplace of Vlad the Impaler. Wander its cobbled streets, explore the Clock Tower, the Church on the Hill, and Citadel Square, and enjoy the authentic medieval atmosphere. Continue with visits to some of Transylvania’s most impressive fortified churches and the charming UNESCO village of Viscri, perfect for authentic countryside views. The day ends in Sibiu (Hermannstadt), a former European Capital of Culture, where centuries-old fortifications, elegant squares, and Saxon architecture create one of Romania’s most refined cultural experiences. Overnight in Sibiu.

Seasonal Scenic Upgrade (June–October)
Upon request, this day can include the legendary Transfăgărășan Highway, subject to weather and road conditions.

Day 3 Sibiu – Alba Iulia – Corvin Castle – Timisoara

Travel to Alba Iulia, one of Romania’s oldest cities, known in Roman times as Apulum and later as the symbolic birthplace of modern Romania following the Great Union of 1918. Explore the impressive Alba Carolina Citadel, a grand Vauban-style fortress that blends Roman roots with baroque military architecture.

Continue to the spectacular Corvin (Hunyadi) Castle, one of Europe’s largest Gothic-Renaissance fortresses and a true icon of medieval Transylvania, renowned for its dramatic architecture and enduring legends. In the evening, arrive in Timișoara for overnight.

Day 4 Timisoara – Budapest

Discover Timișoara, European Capital of Culture in 2023, often referred to as “Little Vienna” for its elegant Habsburg architecture and refined atmosphere. Stroll through Union Square, admire its pastel façades and historic churches, and experience the city’s vibrant cultural character shaped by centuries of Central European influence.

Following the visit, continue your journey west toward Budapest, where your private tour concludes with drop-off at your hotel or preferred location in the Hungarian capital.

A Seamless Cross-Border Journey

Over four carefully curated days, this private journey connects Romania and Hungary in a natural and unhurried way. From royal castles and medieval citadels to Saxon towns and vibrant cultural centers, each destination unfolds at a comfortable pace, without the need to retrace your steps.

What Our Guests Say

Lovely experience in Romania with Tour Guide Emanuel

Alexandria_F, 4 months ago

This tour was one of the best my family has ever taken. It was quite an adventure as we had our twenty-three-month-old with us, but Emanuel was super patient as we navigated long car rides with the little one. He was very informative and the perfect tour guide for all the places we visited, plus he was prompt and efficient. He also provided great advice for us on how to tailor our itinerary around our small child, which ensured everyone involved had a great time. Definitely recommend for families as well as friend groups, as we had some friends along for the journey, too. 10/10 stars!

Stunning Cross-Country Driving Tour

May 2023 • Family

After staying in Bucharest, our family booked a driver to take us on a tour through Romania and drop us in Budapest. This proved to be an amazing experience all around, and one of the most memorable parts of our time in Romania.

Because we had a young child with us, we knew we needed someone who understood the challenges of long drives with kids, and Emmanuel did. He also knew all kinds of details about Romanian history and folklore (one of my main reasons for visiting), and he kept days of driving entertaining.

From the beautiful Peles to the atmospheric Bran castle, every single stop proved a worthwhile adventure. I cannot recommend Emmanuel highly enough for those who want a real view of Transylvania.
