The Transylvania Escape
Private 2-Day Escape to Transylvania from Bucharest
A Relaxed Two-Day Escape into the Heart of Transylvania
Discover Romania beyond the typical day trip. Explore royal castles, medieval towns, breathtaking mountain scenery, the Libearty Bear Sanctuary and authentic local experiences—all at a relaxed pace with your own licensed private guide.
A one-day trip offers a glimpse of Transylvania. A two-day private journey allows you to experience it at the pace it deserves.
Instead of spending the day watching the clock, you’ll have time to explore Romania’s most iconic castles, stroll through the charming medieval streets of Brașov, enjoy breathtaking views of the Carpathian Mountains, and experience the region beyond its most famous landmarks.
One of the advantages of spending two days in Transylvania is the flexibility to personalize your experience. Depending on your interests, you may choose to visit the Libearty Bear Sanctuary in Zărnești, enjoy extra time exploring Brașov’s medieval streets, stop at panoramic viewpoints, or simply travel at a more relaxed pace without rushing from one attraction to the next.
As evening falls, you’ll discover another side of Transylvania. Enjoy panoramic views over Brașov before an optional traditional Romanian dinner in the mountain resort of Poiana Brașov, followed by an overnight stay in one of Romania’s most beautiful medieval cities.
Throughout the experience, you’ll travel with your own licensed private guide, enjoy the flexibility to adjust the pace to your interests, and discover the history, legends and traditions that have shaped Transylvania for centuries.
Whether you’re visiting Romania for the first time or looking for a more immersive alternative to a standard day trip, this private journey offers the perfect balance of history, nature, culture and comfort.
Highlights of Your Journey Through Transylvania

The difference isn’t just how you travel—it’s how you experience Transylvania.
A private tour gives you the freedom to slow down, spend more time at the places you enjoy most, and discover Romania at a pace that feels comfortable and personal. It’s the ideal choice for travelers who value flexibility, authentic experiences and meaningful local insights over simply checking attractions off a list.
Is a 2-Day Tour Better Than a Day Trip to Transylvania?
Many travelers visiting Romania wonder whether a single day is enough to experience Transylvania.
While a day trip is a great introduction, spending two days allows you to discover the region in a much more relaxed and meaningful way. Instead of rushing from one attraction to the next, you’ll have time to explore medieval Brașov, enjoy an overnight stay in the heart of Transylvania, and experience the region beyond its most famous landmarks.
With an extra day, you can also personalize the journey to match your interests. Whether you’d like to visit the Libearty Bear Sanctuary, enjoy panoramic views over Brașov, have dinner in Poiana Brașov, or simply spend more time exploring historic streets and local cafés, the itinerary remains flexible whenever timing allows.
Traveling with a licensed private guide also means you’ll benefit from local insights, comfortable transportation, hotel pickup and the freedom to adjust the pace throughout the journey.
For travelers who value comfort, authentic experiences and flexibility, a private two-day tour offers a richer and more rewarding way to discover Transylvania than a standard day trip.
Detailed Itinerary
Every private tour is designed to remain flexible. The itinerary below represents our recommended route, but the pace and some stops can be adjusted to match your interests whenever possible.
Day 1 – Peleș Castle • Cantacuzino Castle • Brașov • Poiana Brașov
Your private journey begins with hotel pickup in Bucharest before heading north through the scenic Prahova Valley, one of Romania’s most beautiful mountain regions.
The first stop is Peleș Castle, the former summer residence of Romania’s Royal Family and widely regarded as one of Europe’s most beautiful castles. Surrounded by the Carpathian Mountains, its remarkable architecture and richly decorated interiors offer an unforgettable introduction to Romanian history.
Next, continue to the elegant Cantacuzino Castle in Bușteni. Famous for its spectacular mountain views and aristocratic heritage, the castle has recently gained international recognition as one of the filming locations featured in Netflix’s Wednesday.
If time allows and you’re interested, an optional stop at Slănic Prahova Salt Mine can also be arranged as part of your private itinerary.
By afternoon, you’ll arrive in the medieval city of Brașov, where you’ll enjoy a relaxed walking tour through Council Square, the Black Church and the charming cobbled streets of the Old Town.
Before checking into your hotel, we’ll stop at one of the best panoramic viewpoints overlooking Brașov. As the city lights begin to illuminate the medieval center below, you’ll experience one of the most memorable views of the entire journey.
The evening can continue with an optional traditional Romanian dinner in Poiana Brașov, Romania’s best-known mountain resort, before returning to your hotel for an overnight stay in Brașov.
Day 2 – Libearty Bear Sanctuary • Bran Castle • Bucharest
After breakfast, continue your journey with a visit to the Libearty Bear Sanctuary in Zărnești, one of Europe’s largest ethical sanctuaries for rescued brown bears.
Watching these magnificent animals live peacefully in a protected forest environment is a unique and inspiring experience that many guests describe as one of the highlights of their visit to Romania.
As every private tour is flexible, this part of the day can also be adapted to your interests. Depending on your preferences, additional time can be spent exploring Brașov, enjoying scenic viewpoints or making other worthwhile stops along the route.
Later, visit the legendary Bran Castle, internationally known as Dracula’s Castle. Discover the fascinating blend of history and legend while exploring one of Romania’s most iconic landmarks.
In the afternoon, relax during the scenic drive back through the Carpathian Mountains before arriving in Bucharest, where your private Transylvania escape concludes with drop-off at your hotel, airport or another preferred location.
Accommodation & Optional Services
Every traveler has a different idea of the perfect stay. Whether you prefer a charming boutique hotel in Brașov’s historic center or a mountain retreat in Poiana Brașov, we’re happy to recommend and arrange accommodation that matches your travel style and budget.

What Our Guests Say
Lovely experience in Romania with Tour Guide Emanuel
Alexandria_F, 4 months ago
This tour was one of the best my family has ever taken. It was quite an adventure as we had our twenty-three-month-old with us, but Emanuel was super patient as we navigated long car rides with the little one. He was very informative and the perfect tour guide for all the places we visited, plus he was prompt and efficient. He also provided great advice for us on how to tailor our itinerary around our small child, which ensured everyone involved had a great time. Definitely recommend for families as well as friend groups, as we had some friends along for the journey, too. 10/10 stars!

Stunning Cross-Country Driving Tour
May 2023 • Family
After staying in Bucharest, our family booked a driver to take us on a tour through Romania and drop us in Budapest. This proved to be an amazing experience all around, and one of the most memorable parts of our time in Romania.
Because we had a young child with us, we knew we needed someone who understood the challenges of long drives with kids, and Emmanuel did. He also knew all kinds of details about Romanian history and folklore (one of my main reasons for visiting), and he kept days of driving entertaining.
From the beautiful Peles to the atmospheric Bran castle, every single stop proved a worthwhile adventure. I cannot recommend Emmanuel highly enough for those who want a real view of Transylvania.
